My experience with blogging has been a positive one. I've enjoyed being able to reflect on our weekly activities and expand my thoughts on what we have talked about in class. I have learned a lot about my own thinking, but also about others, especially when we read each other's blogs and leave comments. Overall, I think it has been a great tool to do some reflection and deeper understanding.     My experience with Generative AI has been a useful and easy one. I've used it to ask random questions, but more specifically for this class, working with lesson plans. The more specific I was when asking questions about what I wanted, the more accurate the generative source was. I think next time I use it, I will definitely immediately ask very specific questions about what I may want.      Generative AI could be very beneficial in teaching practices. I think I would definitely use it for lesson plans or generative images for the classroom. I think it...

After first exploring AI, I definitely think it could be beneficial in a K-12 classroom. With a tool like AI, things such as classroom schedules, planning sheets, and even ideas or photos for slideshows would be readily available and easy to use for all teachers. I think it could harm students' learning if not regulated, for when students get older, they may try to rely on AI to generate sources or complete work for them. Overall, I think AI is definitely an interesting, and mostly helpful, tool to add to K-12 classrooms.     Using tools like Pinterest and Instagram has already started to expand my PLN. I have been able to follow and see other teachers' boards or pages that would help me when coming up with ideas for the classroom. I also have been able to create boards on Pinterest that combine all of my ideas into one place. These platforms would be very helpful in my future career as a performing arts educator to promote shows while also gaining ideas a...

A standard that incorporates technology in some way is ELA.9.C.51. This standard is the ability to create your own presentations using digital applications and/or technologies that share a direct and understandable perspective. I do feel prepared to implement this standard based on my current skill set. Through applications like Slides, Powerpoint, Canva, and more, I think I have tools readily available to aid me through creating a presentation that is clear and comprehensive.      The grade and subject area I chose to look at on CPALMS was the third grade and theatre. After looking around, I chose the resource that is creating an imaginative costume or prop out of everyday items in the classroom. The related resources that were on this website consisted of a lesson plan about shadow puppetry. This would be a really interesting and fun project for students in the classroom, as we could develop new skills that could be used on stage or while creating fu...

While I was already generally familiar with copyright, I don't believe I realized that right when a work is created, the creator immediately holds copyright on it. I thought there was to be some sort of process that gave them a "law" to claim it as their own. While developing my own material, I would be sure never to copy and paste anyone else's original work. If there was an idea that I liked, I would borrow a concept, but never a full plan for class or a full instructional material. Because AI and other platforms are so easily accessible, academic dishonesty is one thing that has spiked in classroom settings. In classes, I have been taught ways to use generative AI and other resources to aid my work rather than completely write it for me. As a teacher, I would provide the same to my students. I would work with students to teach them proper ways of utilizing others' work, but would incredibly discourage improper use of such platforms.

Throughout middle and high school, I did use MS Word, but rarely. I generally used Google Docs more frequently and grew to prefer that. It is, in my opinion, more aesthetically pleasing, and it also connects to Google Drive, where I can organize all of my documents and other applications together. I am slowly switching over to Word, as most of my classes require assignments to be submitted as a Word document.  The standard of the ISTE Standards that is most meaningful to me is 2.2, Leader. As an educator, you have a duty to make sure that your students are led through academics and are taught properly. You also have to make sure that your students are well advocated for, whatever it may be that is in their best interests. I also think with the importance of technology, it is important for a teacher to lead students through digital literacy, introducing them to this new form of learning. I agree with some of the assumptions that surround what being a "digital native" is. I do ...
