Assignment 5 really tested how much I can use Powerpoint. I've never been good at it, but I'm excited because I think I learned a lot! I definitely learned how to link slides to one another, along with editing fonts and placement on the slides. I think what I could improve next time is to make the slides aesthetically look more entertaining! I think as I'm teaching, I could use data collection tools for various ways. I think student feedback could be a great use of something like Qualtrics. I'd send a smiple survey to students to see how they felt about a lesson or how they feel they're doing in class. I think it could also work for end-of-unit or project reflection to imrpove future instruction or lesson plan.  I think focusing on how to fully use Canva would be very beneficial. Specific: I want to use Canva for classroom visuals and parent newsletters. Measurable: I'd learn to create around 3 different types of classroom visuals in about three weeks. Achieva...

Distance learning made up most of my 8th and 9th-grade years. I have experienced many different technologies, including Zoom, Google Classroom, Canvas, and more. I think that Zoom meetings were very efficient and a good addition to the world of learning. I haven't worked a lot with Padlet other than this class, but I think it's a great platform that I'd like to learn more about and use more often. Open Educational Resources (OER) are resources for learning that anyone can use, generally online. The "open" part is that the resources' property rights are free of charge. An example of an OER is Khan Academy. It is a free resource that offers lesson planning, and content to share in classrooms, and can make or remix the lessons taught.  Khan Academy I learned a lot of new skills working on Assignment 4. I first learned a lot about how to use PowerPoint, as I generally don't choose that as my resource to use when creating. I also learned about transitions on P...

I learned a lot about designing websites for the Web Design assignment. I have created some surface-level websites for easy classes but never had to make them aesthetically pleasing or anything, so this was a little tricky. I definitely tried to stay with a color theme as I was designing, as well as making fun backgrounds that would entice younger students to look as well. I will definitely use websites in my future career to do exactly what this assignment shared, as well as create a website for a program or a theatre that I would teach/run.      There are a few ways I could creatively use QR codes in my classroom. I think one way would be to create a scavenger hunt around the classroom, and as kids find the QR codes, they can scan them and learn something new about the topic we're discussing. Another fun way could be for student portfolios. When we're nearing the end of the year, all their work could be published and the students and/or parents coul...

Teacher pages on a school website are very beneficial to students and parents alike. Publicly, without signing in, all that I am able to view is a name, phone number, and email address, accompanied by which department and course the teacher teaches. I think that information being public could be viewed as helpful, as a parent may need to be in contact with a teacher. It could also be helpful to students who may be looking to take a class, and have the ability to email the teacher without actually having them in class.  I envision myself using technology to more effectively accomplish my professional responsibilities by using it as an organizer, using it for creative endeavors, and being able to stay in contact with students and parents. Tools I will use for organization would be sites like Notion or Google Calendar, as they will keep me in check and have everything I need planned out. I will use Canva for most of my creative endeavors and even for creating slideshows for clas...

My experience with blogging has been a positive one. I've enjoyed being able to reflect on our weekly activities and expand my thoughts on what we have talked about in class. I have learned a lot about my own thinking, but also about others, especially when we read each other's blogs and leave comments. Overall, I think it has been a great tool to do some reflection and deeper understanding.     My experience with Generative AI has been a useful and easy one. I've used it to ask random questions, but more specifically for this class, working with lesson plans. The more specific I was when asking questions about what I wanted, the more accurate the generative source was. I think next time I use it, I will definitely immediately ask very specific questions about what I may want.      Generative AI could be very beneficial in teaching practices. I think I would definitely use it for lesson plans or generative images for the classroom. I think it...

After first exploring AI, I definitely think it could be beneficial in a K-12 classroom. With a tool like AI, things such as classroom schedules, planning sheets, and even ideas or photos for slideshows would be readily available and easy to use for all teachers. I think it could harm students' learning if not regulated, for when students get older, they may try to rely on AI to generate sources or complete work for them. Overall, I think AI is definitely an interesting, and mostly helpful, tool to add to K-12 classrooms.     Using tools like Pinterest and Instagram has already started to expand my PLN. I have been able to follow and see other teachers' boards or pages that would help me when coming up with ideas for the classroom. I also have been able to create boards on Pinterest that combine all of my ideas into one place. These platforms would be very helpful in my future career as a performing arts educator to promote shows while also gaining ideas a...
